The client’s charge to Cope Linder Architects was to design a new sophisticated, large-scale multiplex theater specializing in independently released, limited-distribution art films for mature audiences in a suburban environment. The result is a contemporary but understated 12-screen movie house. The theater auditoriums are arrayed around a gracious and elegantly appointed lobby, offering enclaves of classic modern museum-quality furnishings, with tastefully designed concession stands amidst subdued lighting and graphics. Each auditorium features tiered stadium seating with excellent sight lines and state-of-the-art, automated projection systems and acoustic technologies, providing an incomparable cinematic entertainment experience.
The 50,000-sf Ritz Theater Voorhees has been a resounding commercial success and was subsequently expanded to 18 auditoriums.
