Jim Shomper manages both projects and process at CLA. He has been instrumental in organizing and implementing IT, CAD, and BIM graphic standards, staff training, and ensuring quality and consistency of construction documents.

Jim’s focus on high-quality documentation is critical to effectively implementing design intent during construction. He tends to be involved on projects with challenging technical requirements, where his analytical strengths enable him to solve complex problems and organize complicated spaces. Jim’s design solutions and project approach foster comfortable, beneficial experiences.

Jim is an integral part of all phases of design and construction administration. He encourages everyone to make genuine contributions, and his team mentality extends to the contractors and consultants with which he works.

A tenor banjo player since the age of nine, Jim is a musician and past board member of the Fralinger String Band. He enjoys spending time outdoors in the cold – from parading down Broad Street on New Year’s Day to camping and hiking. Jim, his wife, and their young son live in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Jim holds a B.Arch from Temple University and is a member of AutoCAD User Group International and Philadelphia Revit Users Group. He serves as treasurer of the Philadelphia AutoCAD User Group board of directors. Jim joined CLA in 1995.
